CARIBOU PEAK  7.8 mi. RT, 2,600 ft. elevation gain.  Class B.  South of Brainard Lake from the Rainbow Lakes campground.  12,3l0 Ft. elevation at top with great views of the Indian Peaks area.  May be Tundra flowers blooming.  Call Perry  303-772-6988

Option 1: CARIBOU RANCH OPEN SPACE  4.6 mi. RT.  Class A.  See beautiful flower filled meadows near Nederland.  Call Kathy  (970) 407-9152
Option 2: LAWN LAKE  12.4 mi. RT, 2,447 ft. elevation gain.  Class B.  At 10,987 feet, the lake is nestled below a semicircle of 13,000 foot peaks. The trail follows the Roaring River.  Call Jerry  970-461-3195 (or, if he cannot be reached, 970-663-7637)

Solitude lake  10 mi. RT, 2,240 ft. elevation gain.  Class C.  Steep bushwack climb. May summit Thatchtop Mtn. if group desires.  Depart Kmart 5:30am.

Forest lakes  8 mi. RT, 1,700 ft. elevation gain, 10,880 ft. at the lakes. Class B.  Meet 7am at SW corner Penney’s parking lot in Longmont (on Hover Rd.). Leave Loveland Kmart at 6:30am.  Call Perry  303-772-6988

WEST CREEK FALLS  4.8 mi. RT, 890 ft. elevation gain.  Class A.  One of RMNP’s smallest named waterfalls that rushes swiftly through a dark granite channel exploding over a rock slab and eddying out into a deep clear pool. From the Cow Creek trailhead, the trail climbs a steep ridge then descends into the beautiful West Creek valley.

LITTLE BLUE LAKE  7 mi. RT, 1,353 ft. elevation gain.  Class A/B.  LIMITED TO THE FIRST 12 PEOPLE who call.  We leave from the Mitchell Creek Trailhead in Indian Peaks for an adventure going past Mitchell Lake and Blue Lake with spectacular views of Mt. Toll.  Getting to Little Blue will require a steep 500 ft. ascent in the last mile from Blue Lake.  Call Dave  970-613-9012

epaulet mtn. and Rosalie peak  5 mi. RT, 1,600 ft. elevation gain.  Class A/B.  These are two 13ers you can see from Loveland. Hike will start from the Mount Evans Road and go to the two summits and back. Meet at Kmart 4:00am.  Contact Jim  jameshdisney@comcast.net

TRAP PARK TO IRON MOUNTAIN  4.5 mi. RT, 625 ft. elevation gain.  Class A.  The first part of the road follows an old logging road with wide swaths of talus slopes until encountering the Trap Creek crossing where the views open out onto panoramic vistas of Iron Mountain. We will plan to cross the creek and continue a pleasant additional 1.75 mi (one way) walk through the park. The opportunity for wild life viewing is excellent.  Call Roberta  970-663-7637

NIWOT RIDGE 
Option 1:  5.5 mi. RT, 2,000 ft. elevation gain.  Class A.  A hike from Long Lake Trailhead in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. 
Option 2:  7 mi. RT, 2,500 ft. elevation gain.  Class A/B.  B hike will continue onto Niwot Ridge Road toward Arikaree Peak. 
There are many photo opportunities with the variety of flowers and trees found along this well maintained trail. The hike does take you above timber line so there will also be great views of the surrounding peaks.  Call Reedy 970-532-0413

Rawah Backpack trip  Leave from Rawah Ranch trailhead on the Larimie River Road. Hike to Rawah Lake No. 2 or 3 and setup camp (8 miles, 2600 ft. elev. gain). On Friday, dayhike to Rawah Lake No. 4 over Grassy Pass or fish Lake No. 3; your choice.  Hike out on Saturday.  Leave Kmart 7am.  Call Ron  970-667-4479

Classification ratings are:

A 6-8 miles maximum round trip, elevation gain up to 1200 feet
B 8-12 miles maximum round trip, elevation gain of 1200 to 2500 feet
C 12-15 miles maximum round trip, and/or elevation gain of over 3500 feet.  Steep or rough terrain may be encountered
D More than 15 miles round trip, and/or elevation gain over 3500 feet.  Trips in this classification may require additional climbing skills
E Designates peaks of any classification as dangerous.  Basic mountaineering skills will be required and/or the approval of the leader

Hike Instructions

  • All participants must call hike coordinator

  • Coordinator should be notified at least three days prior to the activity

  • Coordinator should notify participants in case of change of weather, etc.

  • Participants should inform coordinator if one cannot make it on the trip

  • Coordinator needs to discuss individual skills with each participant

  • Participants should be instructed about the trip via the telephone

  • Coordinator should refer hikers to suggested hike equipment list

  • When hiking, lead and rear hikers should be readily seen.  Person in front should wait for the slower hikers

  • The last two cars of each trip should leave together so no one gets stranded

  • Coordinator needs to be assertive as necessary

  • There should be a minimum of four participants.  If there are not four, it is no longer a club activity

  • Participants should pay gas money to the driver

  • Participants should bring a change of footwear and a bag for dirty boots
