Hiking Equipment


Hiking is a great way to enjoy our mountains. 


Proper equipment is a must to ensure your enjoyment and safety. 
Here are some suggestions:

Summer Hikes

Wind Proof Shell or Jacket Down Parka for Cold Weather
Rain Gear (Goretex or coated nylon) Wind Pants
Waterproof Boots Wool Socks and Liner
Light-Weight Shirt Gloves
Extra clothing: Socks, Gloves, etc. Hat
Water (usually 2 liters per person) Toilet Paper plus zip-top bag
Daypack or Fanny Pack Flashlight
Snack or Lunch Whistle
Pocket Knife First Aid Kit
Space Blanket (for emergencies) Map & Compass
Cord or rope Matches or Lighter
Picture ID/Driver's License Health Insurance card
Money for gas & optional snack stop Credit card
Change of shoes Bag for dirty hiking boots
Hiking poles Sunscreen & Lip Balm
Sunglasses

Insect Repellent Camera
Water purification tablets Binoculars
Winter Hikes

Yak-Traks or Stabil-Icers Snowshoes, if needed
Extra Wool Socks Gaiters
Polartec or Wool Shirt Wool or Polartec Hat
