Description

Travel back in time before there was an Old Faithful Inn with Mike Mosehauer and his photos of historic Yellowstone.
Mike Mosehauer, a Loveland Mountain Club member since 2001, will show us glass slide photos taken of Yellowstone National Park from a set of glass slides that were shot in the 1880’s -1900. This is one of three sets of slides taken by Frank Jay Hayes, all in black and white and all hand painted. At that time, there were still problems with Indian tribes, ongoing poaching, and destruction of natural resources. The only mode of transportation was on horseback.
Mike will also display the actual glass slides and the projector that was used to show them. In 1964, Mike was fortunate to retrieve this set of slides and the projector from a neighbor who was going to throw them out.
