Hollowell Park Loop

LMC Calendar

Hollowell Park Loop is an A hike, that you will enjoy thoroughly. It starts at 8180 feet high (with a bathroom…).

First, the trail cross a large meadow, which may be blustery cold if there is wind. The trail climbs easily along a stream while crossing a large forest of aspens. At 1.2 mile, the trail forks. We will go left over the stream and climb slowly but easily through a dense forest of pines, which will protect from the wind. At 1.7 mile, we go right at the crossing to Bierstadt Lake or Cub Lake. We are now at Mills Creek, and will proceed northwest to the next crossing where we will turn right to reach the highest point at 9020 feet. The trail goes down from there, and after 0.5 mile of a steep descent, it will reach the bridge. Then it is down and back to the trailhead.

Snow on the ground will decide snowshoe and/or traction device. Bring both, and walking sticks. Only 8 hikers. Estimated time weather depending 2:30 to 3:00 hours
